London Fashion Week on film and online A number of shows at this month’s London Fashion Week will be streamed live via the web, while various fashion-themed films will also be broadcast digitally.

London Fashion Week gets underway on February 19th and it will bring something new to the table this year. A number of the shows taking place over the course of the week will be available to view live on the internet, as the British Fashion Council (BFC) looks to boost the event’s web presence with its first ever Digital Schedule.

KPIT Cummins zooms on launching automobile software – Business Standard

KPIT Cummins has risen more than 10% to Rs 118 after the company launched automobile software, CLICKSERVICESMILE.com in Pune, in association with DSK Motors. The stock had opened at Rs 113 and has touched an intra-high of Rs 122 on the BSE. Around 376,000 equity shares have changed hands on the counter thus far.

The new software will allow the customers to view their cars and servicing process online. It will also be possible to view the car histories and records, besides facilitating the transfer of cars, purchases of second-hand cars and bill payments. About a year ago, Yudhajit Dutta, who was at the helm of the first edition of the Kolkata Fashion Week, was a picture of poise and confidence at the press conference to announce the event at a glitzy conference hall of a city five-star hotel. He went about beaming at photographers, making small talks with designers and telling us (reporters) how the Kolkata Fashion Week (KFW) is sure to be a major event in the city’s social calendar.

But a year is a long time. A lot can happen within a year, more so in the mercurial world of fashion. Today, at a similar press conference to announce a rival fashion week to be held from February 24 to 28 (Kolkata Fashion and Lifestyle Week) Yudhajit Dutta, feigns ignorance when we ask him about the obvious clash of date with KFW which is scheduled to be held in the last week of February too. “I don’t know about any other fashion week apart from this one,” shrugs Dutta. Of course we don’t buy that. We know that a few months ago Dutta had a “difference of opinion” with the “top brass” of the Mindscapes groups of companies and decided to part ways with them. Dutta’s fashion week will be held under the banner of Purple People Management. The much maligned PC Chandra Greens, where the first Kolkata Fashion Week was held, is the chosen venue for the first edition of KFLW too. Does that mean that the first edition of the KFLW will be plagued with dry toilets, impossibly cloistered venues and mosquito menace too? “A lot of money has been pumped into this event and we will ensure that KFLW is a fashion week that not only Kolkata, but the entire country is proud of,” says Dutta. John Abraham was in the city to announce the event and he had only good things to say about Dutta and the fashion event. “KFLW is actually a platform to promote young designers from this part of the country, who don’t get as much exposure as their Mumbai and Delhi counterparts. I feel Yudi (Dutta) is doing a great job,” says Abraham.

Model-turned actor John Abraham on Monday unveiled the logo of the first-ever Kolkata Fashion & Lifestyle Week (KFLW), which will feature collections of reno­wned designers such as J J Valaya, Narendra Kumar, Manish Malhotra, Satya Paul and Rina Dhaka.

KFLW, the brain-child of Yudhajit Dutta of Purple People Entertainment, will be held between February 24 and February 28. The theme of the event is Eco Fashion, which refers to stylised clothing that uses environmentally sensitive fabrics and eco-friendly production techniques. The theme has been selected in view of the fact that 2010 has been declared the ‘year of biodiversity’ by the United Nations.
